- What is a privacy nutrition label?
- A one-page, FDA-style card that summarizes what a privacy policy actually says: who is accountable, what rights you have, how long data is kept, whether data leaves Québec or Canada, and more — distilled from 11 heuristic checks into rows and a letter grade from A+ to F.
- How is the grade calculated?
- Paste a policy into the generator and it runs the same 11 keyword checks as the free privacy policy grader (privacy officer, purposes, rights, retention, cross-border transfers, consent, breach notification, minors' data, automated decisions, last-updated date, complaint path). - Is the label a compliance certification or legal advice?
- No — and it says so on every card. It is an educational heuristic: software reading words, not a review of what a company actually does. A good grade means the policy says the right things; it cannot tell you whether the practices behind the words hold up. For anything that matters, talk to a lawyer or a privacy professional.
