Common questions
What identifiers does the sandbox detect?
Canadian Social Insurance Numbers (validated with the Luhn checksum to reject false positives), Ontario OHIP health numbers, Canadian postal codes, credit card numbers (also Luhn-validated), North American phone numbers, and email addresses.
Does the text I paste leave my browser?
No. All detection and redaction runs in JavaScript on this page. There is no backend, nothing is stored, and the tool keeps working with the network disabled. On a privacy tool, that guarantee is the point.
How does this relate to Microsoft Presidio?
The recognizer patterns mirror the Canadian recognizer pack published in the movahedi-ca Presidio fork, which adds SIN, OHIP, and postal-code recognizers to Presidio for PIPEDA and Law 25 de-identification pipelines. Presidio is the enterprise-grade counterpart for server-side use; this sandbox is its client-side demo.
Can I rely on this for compliance de-identification?
No. This is an educational demo. Pattern matching misses exotic formats and cannot judge context the way an expert review can. Treat output as illustrative and have real de-identification work reviewed by a qualified professional. Nothing here is legal advice.
What about filtering PII in AI agent traffic?
